He did a great cover for Ellison's "Slippage" as well.
I assigned this and Slippage to David while I was in-house art director at Mariner Books. I told him that I wanted these to look so unlike any contemporary science fiction covers that one couldn't place the design's era. Personally, I think he succeeded.
